50 Brass / 25 Percussion !!!

Well, 6 months to the day since our first meeting and we are right on target with over 50% of our membership goal achieved. Membership continues to grow and the drumline is rockin’ with 8 snares and 3 tenors. (And these guys can PLAY !! ). As a matter of fact, the drumline has been approached by one of the largest entertainment booking agencies in Calgary who would like to handle and promote them. Stay tuned for the “announcement”.

WOW…the performance schedule is fast approaching with only 3 weeks until the drumline opens with shows at the Calgary Marathon and the Music ‘N Motion show at McMahon Stadium on Sunday May 31. Four weeks after that…the full ensemble debuts at the Stampede Parade. (Friday, July 3).

The next CAMP is Saturday, May 23 at the Chapelhow Legion, 10 AM – 4 PM and promises to be our biggest turnout yet. With any luck from the weather gods we’ll finally be able to get outside. The camp is open for anyone to attend. Why not come out for the day and play with us ? We’ll even provide you with a nice new “shiny” instrument ! You’ll get to see some old friends and have a blast !

Speaking of “BLAST!”…rumour has it that 2 more “ex” Star of Indiana members may be coming out. (in addition to the 2 we already have !) Over 70 “special” invitations have been sent out to “friends” of our current members to come and join the party. If you didn’t receive one…don’t worry… you are more than welcome…we just apparently don’t have your current email address.

We even have a special deal for anyone who would like to march with us just in the Stampede Parade. Everyone will receive a beautiful micro-fibre golf shirt and baseball hat with distinctive AE logo ($80 value) just for participating. (plus lots more !)

In any event…lots of you “ex” drum corps members have always “chirped” about how much better drum corps is than marching band. Now is the time to prove it ! Let’s ROCK the Stampede Parade and prove it once and for all. (And 50 brass WILL rock the joint !!)
