3 DCI Champions, Camps (and more !)

We apologize for not updating things since the last camp but the last 10 days have been rather hectic to say the least. More new members, new camp dates, new music…the list goes on and on. Actually, it’s been GREAT !

At last count, we now have 3 former DCI Champions as members (and more to come). As well, we have a bunch of DCI Finalist members now in our ranks. Wanna know why ?? Come on out and we’ll tell you ! Wanna know who ?? Again, come on out … and see for yourself ! (Pssst “clue”, Phantom, Star, Cadets).

Since our last camp (10 days ago) we have picked up 4 more new members. (Aw, big deal…we do that every week). But seriously, we’d like to welcome our most recent new members Ted Bullock, Mic McMillan, Russell Burton and Paul Fulbrook. Welcome aboard guys, we’re thrilled to have you with us. In addition, we also have another handful of “potentials” who haven’t committed (just yet !).

Since we began the “new” All-Age AE we have “averaged “ over 3 new members each and every week. Now, that may not seem like much until you consider this: If we continue to do this for 52 weeks (1 year) we will have OVER 150 members. And this is JUST Brass & Percussion ! Yikes !! (100 brass and 50 percussion ??). “Hello Mr. Dynasty….we need MORE equipment !!!” (No problem…we have an “in”!)

For those of you “still sitting on the fence” here’s one more incentive to join NOW. We have been invited and have agreed to perform next February (2010) in Dubai. We will be taking 30 members first come, first served based on membership seniority. (i.e. We offer it to those members starting at the beginning of the list until the 30 spots are filled). This is a 2 WEEK “All Expenses Paid” trip. (Includes ALL: airfare (round trip), hotel, meals, drinks and ground transportation. Hmmm… let’s see…February, Calgary (-30) or Dubai (+30). Details to follow in the coming months. If you want in on the opportunity….you’d better join REAL SOON.

And one more IMPORTANT piece of news. Due to the request and response of over 95% of our members we are changing our CAMPS to Saturdays. Dates for the next 2 camps are as follows:

Saturday, Feb. 21 Chaplehow Legion 10 am – 4 pm

Saturday, March 28 Chapelhow Legion 10 am – 4 PM (followed by an evening of “fun & frivolity”)

We are still analyzing regular rehearsal preferences and will make an announcement to that regard shortly.

We are in need of an artist who can sketch and/or paint to do a rendering of our new uniform. If you, or someone you know, may be able to assist then please contact Gerry.
